Reciprocal Slip Procedures
Upon entering the EAST entrance of Squalicum Harbor in Bellingham Bay, proceed past the Marina Restaurant (on your starboard side). Your bow will be pointed at "O" dock which is visitor's moorage. Temporarily tie-up to that float. A sign (blue star on the map) is located at the west end of this dock that will direct you to CYC's reciprocity slips and provide you with instructions on how to utilize our reciprocal spaces. Boats up to 38 feet overall can be accommodated on a space available, first come basis for one night only. After one night you are required by the Port of Bellingham to utilize the visitor's dock. Please keep in mind that these slips are made available by their owners who are out cruising at this time.
Directions for the Use of Reciprocal Slips
1. Refer to the map to locate the CYC reciprocal slips (in the blue box) which are as follows:
up to 32 feet overall--
- M west 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 56, 57, 58
33-38 feet over all--
- N west 34, 36, 37, 38, 42, 44, 45, 46
2. Walk and follow the map to locate the reciprocal slips and to determine which ones may be available at this time.
3. Look for a sign towards the entrance to the slip that notes whether the particular slip is available at this time. If there is no sign and no boat, assume that the slip is NOT available.
4. In the box attached to the dock box at the reciprocal slips you will find a binder with a sheet on the cover that indicates the owner's name and the date and time on which the owner will be returning. You may use the slip for one night if the slip is empty and the stated date is no sooner than tomorrow's date.
5. In the binder, you will find a registration form that you must fill out. Place the top half of the registration in the folder in the back of the binder (A donation to reimburse the owner for use of their electricity would also be appreciated).
6. At this point, move your boat into the slip and after securing it, walk up to the Bayside Restaurant (see map in binder) to deposit the bottom half of the registration in the Port of Bellingham's visitor registration box.
7. Someone must be on the vessel overnight and if you leave the vessel, please leave a note as to where you may be reached in an emergency (i.e, the restaurant at which you are eating).
8. You will need to vacate the slip prior to the owner's stated return.
These reciprocal slips are being made available to you by CYC of Bellingham members through the cooperation of the Port of Bellingham. It is therefore, important that you respect the rules for usage of these slips or they may be lost to you and others forever. You are responsible for your actions and must take responsibility for damage caused to the Port's facilities, other boats and/or people by those actions. In using these facilities, you agree to hold harmless the Port of Bellingham and Corinthian Yacht Club of Bellingham for damages caused by yours or an other boater's actions.
Join us for potluck dinner while using our slip. See the Meeting Information page.
