Commodore
The Commodore presides at all meetings of the Club; appoints all committees and acts as an ex officio member thereon; and performs all other duties that properly pertain to this office. All other duties encompass overseeing the duties and activities of the Board, insuring that everything is done in a timely manner. A few important dates to remember:
January-Vote on annual budget at general meeting. Make sure we pay US Sailing dues and insurance. Membership person working on new roster.
May-Registered Agent Mike Kirkland files form as nonprofit, due May 30.
Sept.-Remind Treasurer to present proposed budget at October Board meeting.Form nominations committee. Ask Board members if anyone will serve again.
October-Proposed budget presented to Board. Nominations and elections committee proposes slate of officers to be presented at October general meeting, and/or in newsletter prior to annual November. meeting.
November-Annual general meeting at which club officers for 2003 are elected.Vote on Cruising Family of the Year, and Boat of the Year (if there is one). Place proposed budget in Newsletter.
December-Christmas party. Renew lease for Squalicum Boathouse and storage closet. Additionally, encourage members to submit material for our Homeport Newsletter (Getting to Know a CYC Member, etc.), write monthly comments for "Commodore's Corner".
Vice Commodore
The Vice-Commodore presides at meetings when the Commodore is not present, and works closely with the Commodore on all matters concerning the Club. Additionally, he/she is responsible for notifying the Board members of meetings, and activating the general membership telephone call list.
Hypothetically, the Vice-Commodore would be preparing to move forward the following year as Commodore.

Plan programs for monthly meetings January through December, except for June/July/August. Make the initial contact with person presenting the program, find out if they need a projector, screen, etc. Invite to potluck, give directions to meeting place. Important to confirm the time and date a few days before (also serves as a reminder!) Bring table setting for presenter and spouse or guest. Introduce speaker, and thank at end of meeting. Organize Christmas party: ham, decorations, gift exchange, gift for needy child, food bank. Plan May meeting as picnic, bar-b-que, etc.

Reciprocity
1. Send out a letter to all other clubs with known address (even the ones that we do not have on our list) - hopefully they will add us and send us a letter also) By Feb 15th. Keep the mailing list current and send a current report for preparing the new Roster each year.
2. Keep a current list of slip numbers participating in the program and adjust the "Slip Procedure Sheet" accordingly.
3. Provide participating members with supplies:
a. Plastic folders to hang on the dock box and materials to go inside.
b. Dock box decals.
c. Vacancy signs
4. Keep a supply of Slip Procedure sheets in the box on the back of our sign at Visitor's dock.
5. Keep in contact with the Port when slips become vacant in our area; notify all members and call any prospects on our waiting list and new members; notify the Port with the name of our members who wishes to move into the vacant slip ASAP (usually within a few days).
6. Write letters to the newsletter from time to time concerning the Reciprocity Program and how it works to keep our members informed.
7. Attend board meeting when possible.
8. Reply to other club inquirers concerning our reciprocity program

Newsletter
Collects story material from members; edits, formats and layout articles in PM; furnish printer with camera ready copy, dummy and printing instructions by Monday following board meeting; stamps and labels finished newsletter and mails that Monday night. Maintains database with membership information and prepares mailing labels for newsletter and other officers. Maintans web site.
